About the position

As a Senior Associate Machine Learning Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) at JPMorgan Chase, you will tackle complex challenges that can significantly transform the bank's operations. This role involves applying advanced machine learning techniques to various tasks, including NLP, speech analytics, and recommendation systems, while collaborating with multiple teams and contributing to a knowledge-sharing community. A strong passion for machine learning and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Research and explore new machine learning methods through independent study and experimentation.
  • Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models for real-world applications such as NLP and speech recognition.
  • Collaborate with partner teams across the organization to deploy machine learning solutions into production.
  • Drive firm-wide initiatives by developing frameworks to accelerate the application of machine learning models.

Requirements

  • PhD in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, or Data Science) or an MS with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid background in NLP or speech recognition and analytics, with hands-on experience in machine learning and deep learning methods.
  • Extensive experience with machine learning and deep learning toolkits (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas).
  • Ability to design experiments and evaluate model performance metrics aligned with business goals.
  • Experience with big data and scalable model training, along with strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics, familiarity with financial services industries.
  • Knowledge in search/ranking, Reinforcement Learning, or Meta Learning.
  • Experience with A/B experimentation and data-driven product development.
  • Published research in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Reinforcement Learning at major conferences or journals.
