About the position

As a Research Scientist specializing in Machine Learning for Science at ByteDance, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative machine learning technologies that address complex challenges in various scientific domains, including biology, physics, and materials science. The AI for Science team is dedicated to leveraging computational tools such as machine learning and computational chemistry to create breakthroughs that can significantly impact natural sciences. Your role will involve not only the application of state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods but also a deep understanding of the scientific areas you will be working in. You will be expected to engage in the end-to-end development of solutions to scientific problems, which includes ideation, testing, and implementation of new methodologies. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of cutting-edge machine learning technologies in scientific areas like biology, physics, and materials.
  • Gain a deep understanding of broad areas in scientific research following state-of-the-art methods.
  • Develop and test new ideas for end-to-end solutions to scientific problems.

Requirements

  • Strong background in machine learning and its applications in scientific research.
  • Experience with computational tools and methodologies relevant to biology, physics, or materials science.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, KDD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant internship experience in machine learning or computational science.
  • Winners of ACM competitions or similar accolades.
