About the position

As a Machine Learning Scientist at Arena AI, you will play a pivotal role in developing machine learning systems that enable closed-loop automated decision-making for large enterprises. Your work will involve creating and refining large transformer-based models that integrate multi-modal data, as well as implementing reinforcement learning strategies for smart exploration and exploitation. This position requires a balance between quick exploratory models and robust, scalable production processes. You will be expected to push the boundaries of scientific and technical possibilities, sharing your findings with the broader scientific community through publications and open-source contributions. Your contributions will directly impact how businesses across various industries make high-frequency, critical path decisions autonomously. In this role, you will be working full-time in our New York City office, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of machine learning models in a production environment. Your passion for AI and machine learning will be crucial as you engage in the full ML stack, from initial research and development to the deployment of models into production.

Responsibilities

• Develop machine learning systems for closed-loop automated decision-making for large enterprises.
• Create and refine large transformer-based models that integrate multi-modal data.
• Implement reinforcement learning strategies for smart exploration and exploitation.
• Balance quick exploratory models with robust, scalable production processes.
• Push the boundaries of scientific and technical possibilities in machine learning.
• Share findings with the scientific community through publications and open-source contributions.

Requirements

• Experience in model training, deployment, and maintenance in a production environment.
• Strong skills in deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, DeepSpeed, Ray, and Pytorch Lightning.
• Experience with high-performance, large-scale machine learning systems.
• Strong programming skills with a focus on clean code and scalability.
• Deep passion for AI and building machine learning systems.
• Interest in the full machine learning stack from initial R&D to production deployment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with active learning, reinforcement learning, causal inference, and/or online learning approaches.
• Expertise in experimental design and Bayesian uncertainty estimation.
