About the position

The Machine Learning Team Lead in the Artificial Intelligence Group at Bloomberg is responsible for leading a team of machine learning engineers focused on applied research in machine learning and natural language processing (NLP). This role involves developing and implementing state-of-the-art machine learning models, particularly leveraging advanced NLP techniques such as Large Language Models (LLMs). The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to integrate machine learning solutions into Bloomberg's financial products, ensuring high-quality outcomes and innovation in data-driven customer-facing applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of ML engineers in applied research and development of machine learning models.
• Collaborate with product owners, domain experts, data engineers, and front-end engineers to integrate ML solutions into products.
• Participate in the development process of ML-based financial products as a technical leader.
• Design, experiment, and evaluate software systems for machine learning applications.
• Write, test, and maintain production-quality code for machine learning systems.
• Represent Bloomberg at conferences and in open-source communities.
• Demonstrate technical leadership by owning cross-team projects and initiatives.
• Build libraries and frameworks that support fault-tolerant and testable systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models to production.
• 2+ years of experience in leadership, managing and coaching globally distributed teams.
• Extensive experience in software engineering.
• A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate, challenge, and influence team members, peers, and stakeholders.
• History of successfully delivering on key initiatives and driving long-term strategic technology plans.
