This position will focus on EDM, Waterjet, Laser & CNC troubleshooting, repairs and controls of existing equipment and lead the design of new equipment. This position may also focus on other manufacturing equipment such as robotic systems. There will also be a need to utilize AutoCAD for layout drawings related to machine moves and machine installations.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System.
  • Contributes to the implementation of various manufacturing improvements including 5S, Lean, etc.
  • Interface with operations and engineering personnel to improve product quality, compliance, safety, reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Manage large capital projects up to $1M and large equipment installations.
  • Be a technical resource for the department (EDM, Waterjet, Laser & CNC).
  • Incorporate multiple disciplines (electrical, mechanical, quality, production, design) to create solutions.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends in equipment and performance.
  • Troubleshoot unscheduled maintenance and equipment failures.
  • Make recommendations on actions that can be taken to reverse adverse trends.
  • Create maintenance procedures, training and policies for new equipment.
  • Create a culture of best practices sharing.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs and evaluating equipment.
  • Optimize equipment uptime, reliability and efficiency.
  • Focus heavily on the EDM, Waterjet, Laser & CNC troubleshooting, repairs and controls of existing equipment.
  • Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
  • Evaluate maintenance programs ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
  • Tests newly installed equipment/machinery ensuring vendor fulfillment of contract specifications.
  • Create maintenance procedures and policies. Develop and administer training programs for maintenance techs.
  • Create and maintain drawing files used for plant layouts.
  • Coordinate and/or support machine moves and installations through the facility.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and training.
  • Flexibility to come in on off-shifts for training or information gathering.
  • Carry out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned.
  • Subject to call-in during off-shift and weekends as needed.
  • Attend specialized training and cross train on the job for all maintenance activities plant wide.
  • Reports to the Facilities Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (B. S.) with 8 years of experience; or a HS Diploma or equivalent with equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant maintenance role is preferred.
  • 5-axis CNC, EDM & Laser experience is preferred.
  • PLC experience required.
  • AutoCAD, CMMS, ERP, Microsoft applications, Database software knowledge and experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing various manufacturing improvements including 5S, TPM, SMED and Lean principles.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Excellent written, verbal and customer service skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
