About the position
The Machine Operator at O'Neal Steel is responsible for setting up and operating production machines in accordance with established procedures. This role involves using computer-controlled equipment to manage machine settings and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. The operator will work primarily on 1st shift and is expected to provide high-quality work to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate production machines according to established procedures and guidelines.
- Use computer-controlled equipment to select, position, and secure machines.
- Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately and timely.
- Operate various processing equipment including saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, plasma, and laser machines.
- Handle material using equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and stacker cranes.
- Read and interpret simple blueprints and use measuring tools effectively.
- Convert fractions to decimals and perform basic arithmetic operations.
Requirements
- Ability to operate a variety of processing equipment including saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, plasma, and laser machines.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools like tape measures and calipers.
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and perform addition and subtraction.
