About the position

The Royal Group is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator for the 3rd Shift in Seymour, IN. This role involves managing all aspects of machine operation, including setup, operation, cleanup, and suggesting improvements. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and quality, contributing to the company's mission of providing value-added solutions to demanding customers.

Responsibilities

  • Setup machine accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
  • Minimize waste of sheet stock.
  • Monitor quality, including loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
  • Cross train on other machines and switch duties as needed.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs; be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate the machine to run efficiently and produce quality products.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Attend all plant safety meetings and practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Adhere to production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
  • Train and assist Helper/Assistant with job duties at the machine and move in progression to operator.
  • Inspect all dies before and after run to ensure necessary repairs are made before the next run.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot issues on the machine to minimize downtime.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Work overtime as required and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry or 2-4 years' work experience in a related field.
  • Valid Forklift Operator License may be required.
  • Ability to apply basic calculations and read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Basic computer competence and working knowledge of machinery.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs, with assistance for objects over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, instructions, safety rules, and quality standards.
