About the position
The Machine Operator position at Kennametal in Greenfield, MA, involves working under the supervision of the Production Supervisor to ensure efficient operation of machinery. Responsibilities
- Clean and/or wipe equipment.
- Fill lubricating and/or hydraulic oil reservoirs in machines.
- Keep limit switches clean.
- Perform daily routine maintenance.
- Avoid damage to tooling and material in process, equipment, and maintain production, quality, and safety.
- Manually count or weigh pieces.
- Enter production data into the computer.
- Obtain tooling from the crib.
- Make minor machine repairs to maintain productivity, such as relieving jams, changing coolant spouts, cleaning coolant pipes, changing and adjusting belts.
Requirements
- Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to understand blueprint projections and dimensions.
- Knowledge of basic indexable insert cutting tools and tool geometries.
- Ability to explain machine problems in technical terms.
- Familiarity with NC/CNC equipment programs and data input.
- Use of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles.

- Experience with precision measuring instruments.
