Machine Operator - Fort Smith, AR

About the position

The position involves operating machinery in a production environment under the supervision of a Production Supervisor or Plant Manager. The employee is responsible for ensuring product quality, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

• Operates a packer machine to bag and prepare product
• Weighs bag to assure proper weight
• Prepares palletizer or packer machine for start up
• Completes specified paperwork to generate production reports
• Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Reviews product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance, assuring product meets quality requirements
• Performs routine machine maintenance
• Uses shovel and broom to clean up material spills
• Assists other Operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
• Ensures all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
• Operates Forklift or other mobile equipment as needed
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements

• Lifting and carrying concrete bags up to 70 pounds
• Requires often lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, twisting, sitting, standing
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
• High school graduate or equivalent
