About the position

The Machine Operator I at MillerKnoll is responsible for the fabrication and production of steel, aluminum, and plastic products, ensuring adherence to quality and design standards. This entry-level position involves operating metal fabrication equipment, collaborating with more experienced operators, and performing thorough inspections of finished products. The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate metal fabrication equipment for steel, aluminum, and plastic products.
  • Perform 100% inspection of finished products before moving to the next stage in the fabrication process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams within the work cell.
  • Use air and electric hand tools such as grinders, drills, and files.
  • Measure parts accurately using tape measures and calipers.
  • Read and interpret dimensions and surfaces from design drawings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area following 5S procedures.
  • Communicate quality problems with other associates.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience demonstrating performance competency.
  • Experience in a metal fabrication environment operating machinery.
  • Ability to read and write effectively for communication and documentation purposes.
  • Willingness to receive training from more experienced operators.
