About the position

The Machine Operator I position at Knoll involves the fabrication and production of steel, aluminum, and plastic products, ensuring adherence to quality and design standards. This role requires technical expertise in operating metal fabrication equipment and involves collaboration with more experienced machine operators. The operator is responsible for inspecting finished products and making technical decisions during the fabrication process.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate metal fabrication equipment according to skill level.
• Inspect finished products for quality before moving to the next fabrication stage.
• Participate in continuous improvement teams within the work cell.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and tools.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area following 5S procedures.
• Communicate quality issues with team members.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or relevant work experience in a metal fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings and dimensions.
• Experience operating machinery in a metal fabrication setting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with air and electric hand tools such as grinders and drills.
• Ability to measure parts accurately using tape measures and calipers.
