About the position

The Machine Operator Process Lead is a front-line leadership role responsible for overseeing manufacturing associates in a designated work area. This position ensures that associates work safely and efficiently while adhering to the production schedule. The lead coordinates activities, provides training, and monitors performance to achieve production goals and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational and safety training for associates on the team.
  • Drive performance in operational and safety metrics, reporting issues to the Supervisor.
  • Encourage teamwork and support among associates in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure sufficient staffing to meet production needs and balance the line to maintain product flow.
  • Assign jobs during shifts to support production goals.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to line associates to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Monitor quality in the assigned area and take appropriate action to resolve issues, reporting to the supervisor when necessary.
  • Complete and monitor production charts and documentation, performing administrative tasks as needed.
  • Evaluate scrap, waste, and rework during shifts, assessing causes and initiating corrective actions.
  • Generate data for recommendations on long-term preventive solutions for safety, quality, waste, and operational issues.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) processes and lead assigned CI activities.
  • Lead the area in the absence of the supervisor, including during overtime shifts.

Requirements

  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to facilitate group meetings.
  • Computer skills, specifically in Oracle/EBS-JDE.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of fundamental safety principles in an industrial work environment.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • Skilled in operating manufacturing equipment for the designated area.
  • Some knowledge of lean manufacturing and its implementation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001/9001 standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Three to five years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Additional background in factory operations is helpful.
