We are seeking dedicated Seamer Operators for both 1st and 2nd shifts (6am - 2:30pm & 2pm - 10:30pm) to join our team at Brook & Whittle Ltd. As a Seamer/Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in the operation of seaming machines, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently according to the Finishing Schedule posted at the machine. Your primary responsibilities will include running seaming machines with the appropriate materials, conducting inspections based on shipping requirements, and operating a Rotoflex packing machine. You will also assist in finishing tasks when production needs in seaming are met, directing floaters to maximize productivity and communicating effectively with other shift personnel regarding the status of machines and materials. In this role, you will monitor the quality of the products while running the machines, work with flammable materials, and refer to job packets for instructions on finishing, splicing, labeling, and packing. It is essential to communicate any issues to upstream and downstream operations and report any machine or equipment breakdowns to your supervisor and maintenance personnel. You will be expected to work overtime as needed and cover for other operators during their vacations. Proficiency in using measuring devices such as calipers and scales is required, along with a strong understanding of all policies, procedures, and safety regulations associated with the Finishing Department. Additionally, you will consult with the department manager and Quality Assurance regarding any quality-related defects and assist in investigating root causes and corrective actions for departmental needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate production logs, ensuring that the machine is clean and ready for the next shift, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased productivity. This position requires a proactive approach, as you will be expected to troubleshoot equipment and relocate rolls to appropriate skids while keeping products separated.
