About the position
The Machine Operator (Taper) position at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) involves working on the 2nd shift to support manufacturing operations. The role focuses on increasing productivity, reducing downtime, and ensuring quality in the packaging process. Operators will work closely with team members to maintain safety standards and operational efficiency while handling machinery and materials.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
- Work with assistant operator to reach run times.
- Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work, assisting all jobs on the plant floor.
- Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
- Load and unload tape safely, correctly, and efficiently.
- Feed boxes and adjust feed table depending on stock used.
- Maintain work station and machine equipment per 5S Standards.
- Stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours as required.
- Conduct accurate quality checks to ensure boxes have required dimensions and zero material defects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- Passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
- Highly motivated, dependable, and technically competent individual who can operate independently given verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to sit, stoop, and bend.
- Willingness to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment is preferred.
