About the position

The Machine Operator at Weir ESCO is responsible for operating machinery that produces sand cores used in metal casting molds. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and consistency of the molds, which are essential for the manufacturing process in the mining and infrastructure sectors. The position requires a strong understanding of foundry operations and the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery to make sand cores for molds.
  • Make sand molds into which metal castings are poured.
  • Understand foundry operations and materials used in molding.
  • Perform repetitive tasks for up to eight hours at a time.
  • Assess the quality of finished molds and monitor sand characteristics.
  • Familiarize with and operate both mold and core automated machines.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring extensive wrist, arm, and shoulder use.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Upper body strength and good lifting technique.
  • Willingness to operate both mold and core automated machines.
