About the position

The Machine Operator facilitates the production, inspection, packaging and machine operation in preparation for shipping and receiving demands to meet customer needs. Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within established guidelines by performing the below duties within Quality standards. Adheres to jobs as required by the procedures and work instructions contained in the Quality system to maintain AS9120 and ISO certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all activities in receiving, order fulfillment, shipment and initial determination of product damages/returns.
  • Perform the cutting of alloys within the tolerance of .062" based on customer specifications for the use in the Aero Space industry.
  • Perform chamfering cut angle and depth of cut tolerances are met based on customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the accurate cut length, deflection, heat and ingot ID are applied on each piece of material cut for traceability through the entire production process.
  • Responsible to maintain the integrity of traceability for all cutting.
  • Ensures that all measuring equipment (Caliper, Tape Measure, Micrometer, Gauss Meters, and Scales) are accurately maintained to the required calibration standards and recorded as required per the quality standards.
  • Responsible to troubleshoot and repair equipment such as band saws, chamfering equipment, and circular saws.
  • Receive, comprehend and follow traveler instructions, procedures, drawings and/or verbal instructions.
  • Set-up and operate manufacturing equipment in a manner which meets quality and productivity standards.
  • Recognize variations from proper equipment/machine performance and seek corrective assistance when other than normal adjustments are required.
  • Assist the Machine Operator Lead (MOL) in developing new methods and techniques to improve process and quality of products.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment, including preventative maintenance and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Assist the MOL in the training of other employees when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years of production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Knowledge of various tools and equipment including but not limited to: manufacturing process equipment, personal protective equipment (e.g. safety shoes, eye protection, protective aprons, respirators, gloves, etc.), measurement tools (e.g. micrometers, weigh scales, etc.), hand tools (e.g. wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.) and test equipment (e.g. eddy current, volt meters, etc.).
  • Knowledge of various materials used to include but not limited to: various grades of titanium and other specialty alloys, drawing compounds and lubricants, solvents and process chemicals.
  • Ability to set-up and operate applicable machines, tools and equipment.
  • Intermediate understanding of computers and/or the willingness to learn is required.
  • PIT Certification preferred. (Side-loader experience preferred)
  • Must be professional, have good interpersonal skills, self-directed and motivated, readily assumes ownership of work assignments and drives toward completion.
  • Ability to read procedures and work instructions with understanding.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude, have a strong attention to detail, and be dependable (with no attendance issues).

Nice-to-haves

  • PIT Certification preferred. (Side-loader experience preferred)
