About the position

As a Machine Operator at AT&T, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customers have access to reliable network services by installing and maintaining state-of-the-art technology. This position involves working independently in the field, operating various machinery to place buried service wire, and coordinating with customers and local utilities to provide installation and maintenance services while adhering to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Locate buried facilities near the route of 'B' service wire using appropriate equipment.
• Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery.
• Perform manual excavation utilizing a shovel.
• Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems.
• Perform temporary repairs to low voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines damaged during work.
• Conduct periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment used in job responsibilities.
• Read and interpret simple instructions and follow established safety practices and procedures.

Requirements

• Desire to work Monday through Friday with a shift length of 8 hours.
• Ability to work mandatory overtime and holidays as service conditions require.
• Eager to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
• Ability to utilize various types of machines and tools.
• Lift and move objects up to 120 pounds.
• Use computers including hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments.
• Light commercial driver's license or equivalent required, depending on state law.
• Attain and maintain a DOT medical card.
• Complete on-the-job and/or classroom training as required.
• Demonstrate competency in training requirements during the probationary period.
