About the position

The Machine Operator position at PCS Technical Services involves operating and maintaining die casting machines to produce high-quality automotive parts. The role requires coordination of machine setup, adjustments, and operation to meet production goals while ensuring quality standards are met. The operator will also be responsible for training co-workers and performing minor repairs and maintenance on the machines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the setup, adjustment, and operation of die casting machines to maintain production output of quality automotive parts.
  • Mount, align, and secure die sections in the machine; connect cooling hoses and adjust the die cooling system.
  • Monitor and adjust machine parameters such as aluminum feed rate and timing cycles; cycle machine to check adjustments and ensure proper closing of die sections.
  • Perform related process tasks such as maintaining lubricant levels in dies and on plunger to achieve clean mold releases.
  • Operate machine to make trial shots; note quality issues such as casting dimensions, fill, and surface defects; make appropriate machine adjustments to correct noted defects.
  • Diagnose machine troubles and make appropriate adjustments; clear knock-out pins; and polish die surfaces to achieve clean mold releases.
  • Work from part drawings, specifications, production schedules, and written instructions.
  • Use precise measuring devices such as scales, calipers, and micrometers to determine machine setup accuracy.
  • Operate crane to perform die changes and ingot loading.
  • Train co-workers to operate die casting equipment and perform minor to moderate machine repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Communicate all employee concerns, machine issues, and any other irregularities to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete quality check sheets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably fast-paced automotive.
  • Intermediate math skills.
  • Proficient in production techniques, processes, and methods.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
