About the position

The Machine Technician at REAL Journey Academies is responsible for maintaining and supporting various specialized machines across two campuses. This role involves daily maintenance, minor repairs, and ensuring network connectivity of machines such as printers and engravers. The technician will also train support personnel and collaborate with vendors for major repairs, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the school's technical resources.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of all machines, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Conduct minor repairs on machines, diagnosing issues and troubleshooting problems to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external technicians for major machine repairs and part replacements.
  • Conduct software and firmware updates for all machines and desktops.
  • Maintain records of licensing for all software, ensuring compliance and tracking renewals on a regular schedule.
  • Create, maintain, and update an inventory of all equipment, including machines, desktops, and related accessories, with regular reviews.
  • Maintain records for machine repairs, servicing, and maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and consistent upkeep of all equipment.
  • Ensure network connectivity for machines requiring network integration and troubleshoot any connectivity issues.
  • Ensure all machines meet proper safety guidelines and industry standards for operation.
  • Update content on school video boards upon receiving new material, coordinating with the schools administration to ensure timely updates.
  • Provide training and support to school support personnel on machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and alignment to meet the specifications required for different tasks and projects.
  • Monitor supply levels and inventory consumables such as ink and toner, and collaborate with the internship coordinators to order supplies when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Electrical experience and knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in computer networking.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to various machines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a variety of machines including screen printers, embroidery machines, UV printers, 3D printers, and laser engravers.
  • Ability to train support personnel on machine operations and maintenance.
