About the position

The Machine Tool Lab Assistant is a part-time role responsible for the operation and organization of the Precision Manufacturing Lab at Nashua Community College. This position involves assisting faculty with lab instruction, maintaining lab equipment, and supporting students in their learning activities related to precision manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the training and effective use of precision manufacturing equipment by students and faculty in the lab.
• Conduct evaluations and assessments of student projects and provide regular feedback to faculty.
• Collaborate with faculty to support student progress through the curriculum.
• Assist faculty in the use of online training and simulation applications.
• Support students in learning activities with lab equipment and monitor training scenarios.
• Prepare and implement learning activities in the lab by setting up training resources.
• Test, clean, and perform routine maintenance on lab equipment.
• Provide technical lab assistance and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Explain and practice lab safety rules and procedures.
• Assist with software and hardware installation and upgrades.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Technology, Engineering, Machine Technology, or related discipline.
• Two years of practical/technical experience in precision manufacturing operations or a closely related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Additional years of work experience in precision manufacturing and/or lab operations.
