About the position

The Machine Tool Repair Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment. This role involves working with high-precision machines and requires a strong understanding of various machine tools and systems. The technician will utilize precision tools to ensure proper alignment and functionality of machinery, contributing to the overall efficiency of production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment.
  • Work with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors.
  • Use precision leveling and alignment tools to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to manufacturer's blueprints and drawings.
  • Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Fabricate and install parts on equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, and drilling.
  • Assist with the unloading, inspecting, moving, and positioning of equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Use rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and hand winches to move equipment/materials into place.
  • Operate mobile equipment for truck and man-lifts.

Requirements

  • Experience with lathes, mills, and broaching, general shop equipment (drill presses, vertical/horizontal band saws, hydraulic presses), measuring and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch.
  • Relevant work experience operating machine tools, including numerical control and manual lathes, and machining centers.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting specifications, and understanding machine instructions.
  • Must be willing to work shift work and various shifts. No shift preference is guaranteed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Lathe, Mills, Cut Off Saw and Drill Press equipment.
  • Machining, Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience.
