About the position

The Machining Applications Engineer will work for an innovative supplier of industrial products and services, focusing on providing cost-saving solutions to customers in the aerospace and defense sectors. The role involves supporting the introduction and application of new products, improving existing processes, and troubleshooting product application issues. The engineer will also engage with high-level customer contacts and facilitate manufacturer visits.

Responsibilities

  • Introduction and demonstration of new products
  • Application support of new products
  • Improve existing processes and applications by reviewing objectives and specifications
  • Recommend changes and make modifications to tooling, applications and processes of machining as needed
  • Support of reconditioning program
  • Troubleshooting of issues relating to product application
  • Facilitation of manufacturer visits and the introduction of their products to the customer

Requirements

  • Greater than 5 years' experience in a manufacturing industry that uses cutting tools
  • Knowledge of or experience with abrasive machining preferred
  • Experience with Aerospace high temp alloys
  • Understanding of Cutting Tool Geometry
  • Understanding of different tooling material and coatings
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience in cost saving project development
  • Experience in process troubleshooting
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend documented material, including tool drawings and technical information
  • Experience with corrective action programs
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to high-level customer contacts
  • Strong analytic skills (Excel and data analysis)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must have strong technical knowledge of CBN, Ceramic and Diamond cutting applications
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Modeling or drawing skills a plus
  • Knowledge of the aerospace market a plus
  • Strong Inventory Management skills
