The Machinist 2 position at Parker Aerospace involves setting up, programming, and operating various industrial machines to manufacture aerospace quality components from materials such as Nickel, Stainless, and Titanium alloys. Responsibilities

  • Perform complex machining operations in support of job shop machining.
  • Operate multiple types of machine tools and perform progressive machining operations to completion, creating tooling components and assemblies with close tolerances or high finish requirements.
  • Fit and assemble components using machinists' hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the working properties of various materials.
  • Program CNC machines as necessary during the manufacturing process.
  • Detect faulty processes and provide input for their resolution.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings, and documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning and paperless timecard system.
  • Demonstrate basic operations to others with supervisor approval when asked.
  • Work under limited oversight.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and symbols.
  • Understanding of proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
  • Familiarity with machine tools and precision instruments.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to perform shop mathematics associated with machining.
  • Demonstrated expertise on multiple machine types or proficiency on a single purpose machine involving multiple machining processes.

  • Experience with CNC programming.
