About the position

The Machinist 2 position at Parker Aerospace involves setting up, programming, and operating various industrial machines to manufacture aerospace quality components from materials such as Nickel, Stainless, and Titanium alloys. The role is crucial in supporting job shop machining operations and requires a strong understanding of machining processes, safety standards, and documentation practices. Team members are expected to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of aviation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex machining operations in support of job shop machining.
  • Operate multiple types of machine tools and perform progressive machining operations to completion, creating tooling components and assemblies with close tolerances or high finish requirements.
  • Fit and assemble components using machinists' hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the working properties of various materials.
  • Program CNC machines as necessary during the manufacturing process.
  • Detect faulty processes and provide input for their resolution.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings, and documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning and paperless timecard system.
  • Demonstrate basic operations to others with supervisor approval when required.
  • Work under limited oversight.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and symbols.
  • Understanding of proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
  • Familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments, and good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform shop mathematics associated with machining.
  • Demonstrated expertise on multiple machine types or work on a single purpose machine involving multiple machining processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with aerospace quality components manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
