About the position
The Machinist B position is a 2nd Shift role focused on performing machining operations, including programming and operating CNC milling machines and manual machine tools. The role involves producing components and container support structures while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates CNC machines from part specifications sheet.
- Determines and selects appropriate tooling; reviews and edits program as necessary.
- Manually programs Bridgeport-type machines from blueprints and determines appropriate set-up fixturing.
- Makes modifications as necessary to ensure proper operation and locates parts, tools, sets up and starts operation.
- Performs hand operations such as deburring as time allows.
- Instructs lower level machine operators and machinists as required.
- Maintains established quality and quantity standards and follows prescribed safety precautions.
- Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision.
- Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Maintains daily production and other records as required.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience CNC/Bridgeport-type machine operation.
- Ability to measure with vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges.
