About the position
The position involves operating manual and CNC mills and lathes to fabricate parts for customer and shop needs. The role requires knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and machining procedures, with a focus on safety and quality control in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Run and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes to fabricate parts.
- Maintain and fill out quality sheets to verify part tolerances.
- Use the MRP system to clock in and out of jobs and manage upcoming jobs.
- Confer with engineering and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Calculate hole-pattern layouts and perform quality control inspections.
- Read and edit CNC lathe and mill programs as needed.
- Adjust mill and lathe offsets for tool wear and machine compensation.
Requirements
- Knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Experience with MRP systems for job management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including fractions and decimals.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with CNC programming and setup.
- Familiarity with Excel programs for data management.
