About the position

The position involves operating manual and CNC mills and lathes to fabricate parts for customer and shop needs. The role requires knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and machining procedures, with a focus on safety and quality assurance in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Run and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes to fabricate parts.
• Determine the uses of personal protective equipment (PPE) and identify safety equipment and procedures.
• Utilize the MRP Network to clock in and out of jobs and manage machine setups.
• Maintain quality sheets to verify part tolerances.
• Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products using CNC processes.
• Support metalworking projects from planning through testing and inspection.
• Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts for engineering needs.
• Test experimental models under simulated operating conditions.
• Write CNC machine programs and assist secondary operators in machine setup and operation.
• Measure, examine, and test completed parts using the Zeiss CMM Machine.

Requirements

• Knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Experience with CNC machine programming and operation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in using Excel programs and MRP systems.
• Ability to solve problems and work independently without supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with quality assurance processes in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with G codes and M codes for CNC programming.
