About the position

The Machinist position involves performing complex setups and operating various machining equipment to produce flat and formed parts according to specified dimensions and tolerances. The role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, the ability to troubleshoot and adjust machinery, and effective communication with engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex setups and operate the mill, lathe, and router to machine parts to specifications.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as required.
• Study blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on materials as guides for machining.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools on machines.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and depth of cut.
• Verify conformance of finished workpieces using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.
• Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of settings or programmed data.
• Confer with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining problems.
• Complete necessary paperwork and computer entry steps.

Requirements

• 3+ years of manufacturing or related work experience.
• A.A. Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Vocational or technical training or equivalent.
• Ability to handle fragile products and perform repetitive tasks.
• Solid understanding of mechanics and MRP concepts.
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with CMM, GD&T, and SPC.
• Demonstrated ability to be a strong team player.

Benefits

• Pay Rate: $18.41 - $23.03 per hour depending on experience.
• Contract duration with a 10% shift differential for 3rd shift.
