About the position

The Machinist position at Aerotek involves operating and maintaining various industrial machinery, with a focus on manual machining. The role requires a skilled individual with experience in working with mills and lathes, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints. The Machinist will be responsible for preventive maintenance, ensuring safety practices are followed, and maintaining accurate project records in a highly industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain metal lathe, milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, metal brake, metal shear, plasma cutting, metal forming, welders, acetylene torches, and metal cutting saws.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial machinery, work tools, and equipment.
  • Perform both uptime and downtime preventive maintenance in adherence to the master PM schedule.
  • Follow all safety practices and rules to ensure equipment is operating in a safe manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of projects including machine assembly, startup, and installation.
  • Participate in daily meetings, prioritizing and reviewing the daily schedule of work.
  • Operate forklifts, man lifts, cranes, and other machinery as needed.
  • Provide assistance in operating functions/areas.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of manual machining experience.
  • Proficiency with mills and lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience using calipers and other precision tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to take accurate measurements using precision tools.
