About the position

The Machinist position at our Mount Vernon, OH facility involves setting up and operating manually controlled and/or CNC machines with minimal supervision. This role requires skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment. The Machinist will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, using gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements, and utilizing precision tools and machinery such as lathes, vertical milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses, chop saws, band saws, and various cutting tools. In this role, you will fabricate and shape parts from metals, plastics, and composites, ensuring proper and safe selection, alignment, securing, and removal of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. You will also be expected to recognize, deploy, and use inserts, fixtures, and tooling effectively. Daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment will be part of your responsibilities, along with evaluating experimental procedures and recommending changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production. Additionally, you will track parts and jobs into the Vantage system and comply with ISO requirements and safety procedures, ensuring adherence to all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Utilizes precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, and various cutting tools.
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics, and composites.
  • Selects, aligns, secures, and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines safely.
  • Recognizes, deploys, and uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling effectively.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Tracks parts and jobs into the Vantage system.
  • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of machinist experience preferred.
  • Commitment to safe, quality workmanship.
  • Ability to accept and apply instructions in various formats.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and other employees.
