About the position

Responsible for handling all tool room machining activities which include the designing, drawings, setup, and machining of items needed for our production facilities. The role involves creating detailed drawings or sketches of parts, setting up and creating parts for prints or sketches, and performing alternative work such as helping with machine repairs. The position requires setting up, operating, and machining on a vertical mill and metal lathe, as well as operating a band saw, chop saw, and drill press. Additionally, the use of measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators is essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle all tool room machining activities
• Design and create detailed drawings or sketches of parts
• Setup and create parts for prints or sketches
• Assist with machine repairs
• Setup, operate, and machine on a vertical mill and metal lathe
• Operate a band saw and a chop saw
• Operate a drill press
• Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges

Requirements

• Completed trades education program (2-4 years of trade school)
• Minimum of 2-3 years of machine shop experience in a manufacturing facility
• Good mechanical understanding of machinery and component interaction
• Ability to perform basic math functions and use standard measuring devices
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Basic computer skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Excellent attendance history
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand on hard surfaces for 10-12 hour shifts in varying temperatures
• Good hand and eye coordination
• Good visual acuity
• Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and stoop
• Ability to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to work independently
• Must be able to read and understand English
