About the position

Palisades Group is seeking a Macro Credit Research Associate or Vice President to join its Investment Management Team. This role focuses on researching fixed income markets, securitization, interest rates, and other factors influencing housing and residential credit markets. The ideal candidate will conduct in-depth data analysis, develop models, and produce reports on macroeconomic trends affecting the fixed income and credit sectors. The position requires collaboration with portfolio managers and traders to inform investment strategies and communicate insights effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on fixed income products, mortgage credit markets, housing, labor markets, and interest rates.
  • Follow events related to credit markets, including central bank policies and economic indicators.
  • Develop and maintain models for analyzing macroeconomic trends and their impact on credit markets.
  • Identify dislocations and investment opportunities using available data sources.
  • Monitor market and economic events, providing timely analysis to team members.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate research insights into investment decisions.
  • Assist in creating regular research publications and presentation materials.
  • Produce written reports on findings and present insights to investment professionals and clients.
  • Communicate with clients and media regarding macroeconomic trends.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience with research related to residential mortgage markets or fixed income.
  • Previous experience as a credit research analyst on the buy or sell side.
  • Experience with mortgage loan datasets such as Black Knight, CoreLogic, Fannie/Freddie is a plus.
  • Understanding of fixed income markets and bond valuation.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid writing skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
