About the position
The Senior Software Engineer position focuses on both Mainframe and Java development within the Enrollment Services team. This role is crucial for managing real-time services (APIs) that allow consumers to access and update enrollment-related data. The engineer will work on modernization efforts to reduce the organization's mainframe footprint while developing and supporting applications in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support applications in the mainframe environment using COBOL and Java.
- Participate in modernization efforts to reduce the mainframe footprint.
- Work with Java batch jobs and legacy mainframe applications.
- Manage real-time services (APIs) for enrollment-related data access.
- Collaborate with an Agile/Scrum team to deliver high-quality software.
Requirements
- Expertise in application development using COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, ChangeMan, and Topaz.
- Java development experience, including unit/integration testing with Junit/TestNg.
- Proficiency in Java and Spring technologies (Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Integration).
- Experience with web services, particularly RESTful and SOA Services.
- Strong experience in continuous integration within a DevOps environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with API Management Tools.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as GIT/BitBucket.
- Extensive experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
