About the position

The Mainframe Architect - Technical Architect position is focused on maintaining and supporting the Tax and Financial Accounting and Reporting System (FARS) and its interfaces, particularly in relation to the Southern Consortium Unemployment Benefits Integration (SCUBI). This role involves design implementation, maintenance of mainframe systems, and collaboration with technical teams to ensure proper integration and resolution of technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the Tax and Financial Accounting and Reporting System (FARS) systems.
• Work on the Interfaces related to client and Southern Consortium Unemployment Benefits Integration (SCUBI).
• Handle design implementation and maintenance of mainframe computer systems.
• Assist with the Tax Modernization project, including data cleansing and conversion.
• Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure proper integration of the mainframe system with other systems and technologies.
• Help resolve technical issues that arise with the mainframe system.
• Develop and implement preventative measures to minimize future issues.

Requirements

• Technical knowledge and experience with mainframe technology including COBOL, CICS, VSAM, and JCL (10 years required).
• Experience in converting data from one application to another (10 years required).
• Successful completion of technology projects within area of responsibility.
• Ability to analyze feasibility, compatibility, and cost of solutions.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills (desired).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (desired).
• Ability to engage business experts in the purpose and use of data in the Benefit Payment Application (desired).
• Knowledge of VSAM and Hierarchical database structures.
