As a Mainframe Hardware Configuration Engineer at Fiserv, you will play a crucial role in configuring and maintaining the mainframe hardware that supports our global data centers. This position involves working with various hardware components including mainframes, disk systems, virtual tape, and SAN switches. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all hardware is configured correctly to meet the needs of our global infrastructure, which is essential for the seamless operation of our financial technology services. You will be tasked with replacing and upgrading hardware as necessary, applying fixes and patches, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to ensure that our deliverables are met in a timely manner. In this role, you will design and configure mainframe hardware systems, diagnose and resolve hardware issues, and monitor system performance to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with software engineers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure that hardware and software systems integrate seamlessly. You will also be responsible for maintaining detailed documentation of hardware configurations, changes, and maintenance activities, including connectivity diagrams, which are vital for operational continuity. Additionally, you will utilize the Input/Output Configuration Program (IOCP) to define and manage input and output configurations. Your participation in datacenter relocations, client migrations, and disaster recovery exercises will further solidify your role as a key player in maintaining the integrity and reliability of our systems.
