About the position
The Mainframe IMS DB Consultant role is focused on providing expertise in system design, application development, and operational stability within the banking domain. This position requires hands-on experience with IMS DB and CICS, along with a solid understanding of agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle. The consultant will work on a long-term project in a hybrid work environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of mainframe applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop applications using IMS DB and CICS.
- Ensure operational stability and performance of mainframe systems.
- Debug and maintain existing code in a corporate environment.
- Collaborate with teams to implement agile methodologies such as CI/CD.
- Create APIs using zO/S connect and Kafka integration.
- Utilize IBM-Z/OS COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and CA7 in application development.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in system design and application development.
- Proficient in IMS DB and CICS.
- Experience with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Hands-on experience with IBM-Z/OS COBOL, CICS, IMS DB/DC, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CA7, and Change man/Endeavor.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
- Knowledge of the banking domain and credit card systems.
- Exposure to cloud technologies.
- Experience with AWS.
