About the position

The Mainframe Modernization Technical Project Manager will oversee the migration of applications from legacy mainframe systems to modern cloud-based platforms. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to manage large-scale projects effectively, ensuring successful transitions to newer technologies while maintaining relationships with clients and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the Modernization project team as well as consulting and supporting the partner and client teams
• Manage migrations from the mainframe to AWS
• Present information and demonstrate knowledge about Java Technologies, microservices, and IBM mainframe environments including COBOL, Assembler, copybooks, JCL, CICS, Db2, and IMS
• Build and nurture team, client, and partner relationships
• Follow and apply project methodology standards including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies

Requirements

• 10+ years of technical IBM Mainframe experience working on project/program management
• 3-5 years working in mainframe modernization / Java technologies experience to the cloud
• 2-5 years working with AWS cloud environments
• Solid knowledge of legacy systems, programs, software, and environments
• Understanding and experience with programming languages such as Cobol, Java, C#, and others
• Ability to assess and analyze the complexity of the technical design and guide the teams
• Experience in project management methodologies, preferably with a PMP/Agile/Waterfall
