About the position

The Mainframe Security Administrator at Companion Data Services is responsible for executing systems administration and troubleshooting security and compliance anomalies within IT services. This role involves monitoring enterprise infrastructure for suspicious activity, ensuring compliance with security policies, and participating in the development and implementation of information security strategies. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks while supporting the technical business needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors enterprise infrastructure and/or systems for suspicious activity.
  • Monitors information traffic to identify abnormal occurrences and ensure compliance with corporate security policies.
  • Assists in responding to internal or external controls audits related to information security.
  • Performs system monitoring evaluations and audits for compliance with corporate security policies.
  • Validates configuration and vulnerability compliance of technology components.
  • Researches systems and procedures for preventing, detecting, containing, and correcting information security breaches.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly status reports on security matters to develop risk analysis scenarios and response procedures.
  • Assists with vulnerability assessments, running scanning tools, and audit log reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of job-related work experience or an Associate's degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with threat analysis, risk management, and configuration management.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in system troubleshooting and diagnostic root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work with Auditors and produce required reports.
  • Ability to follow change control and plan high-risk security changes.
  • Strong IT security background.
  • Previous experience with common network services and security devices.
  • Knowledge of systems administration techniques for security event management.
