About the position

The position involves developing JCL and software code in accordance with customer-defined standards and software engineering best practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing root causes of batch job failures and taking appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues promptly. This role requires effective communication skills to brief management, customers, teams, or vendors at a suitable technical level for the audience, whether through written or oral presentations. Additionally, the candidate will be tasked with preparing or updating documentation as necessary and actively participating in peer reviews of project artifacts. The position also involves independent and collaborative research to solve problems and provide effective solutions. Other duties may be assigned as directed by management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop JCL and software code using customer defined standards and software engineering best practices.
  • Analyze root causes for batch job failures and take corrective steps to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate impacts of database schema changes on existing software components.
  • Brief management, customers, teams, or vendors using appropriate technical communication skills.
  • Prepare or update documentation as needed.
  • Actively participate in peer reviews of project artifacts.
  • Independently and collaboratively research problems and provide solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with COBOL, JCL, REXX, analysis, design, and development.
  • Experience with File Aid/RDX.
  • Experience with modern development software, tools, and methodologies, including Java and Python.
  • Solid experience with Z/OS Mainframe Development.
  • Experienced Developer in COBOL, JCL, REXX, and similar utilities/languages.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, dB2 and non-relational mainframe storage technology.
  • Solid exposure with automated unit testing, TDD, BDD, and associated technologies.
