About the position
The Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and administration of the mainframe z/OS operating system and related systems software products. This role requires providing production off-hour coverage and supporting periodic weekend implementations, ensuring the stability and performance of the mainframe environment.
Responsibilities
- Ongoing maintenance of the mainframe z/OS operating system, including installation, patching, and upgrades.
- Administration of accompanying storage systems and systems software products such as database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, and report distribution.
- Maintenance and upgrades of DB2.
- Upgrades of mainframe and related storage systems.
- Provide production off-hour coverage and support periodic weekend implementations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD.
- Experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
- Basic IBM utilities knowledge (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.).
- Working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.
- Experience with CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing is a plus.
- Experience using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise-wide implementations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.
- Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience in a relevant technical field.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing.
