About the position

The Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and administration of the mainframe z/OS operating system and related systems software products. This role requires providing production off-hour coverage and supporting periodic weekend implementations, ensuring the stability and performance of the mainframe environment.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing maintenance of the mainframe z/OS operating system, including installation, patching, and upgrades.
• Administration of accompanying storage systems and systems software products such as database, transaction server, and security management.
• Support UNIX Systems Services as part of the mainframe environment.
• Perform upgrades of mainframe and related storage systems.
• Provide production off-hour coverage as necessary and support periodic weekend implementations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD.
• Experience with VTAM and TCP/IP is required.
• Basic IBM utilities knowledge (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.) and program product installations.
• Working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.
• Experience with CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing is a plus.
• Experience using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
• Experience working with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.
• Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience in a relevant technical field.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing.
