About the position

The Maintainer I position at Salem State College involves performing routine maintenance and custodial services for campus buildings and grounds. This role is essential for the upkeep and beautification of the campus environment, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and safe for use by students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and custodial services to buildings and grounds.
• Repair or beautify campus grounds or roads, including cutting grass, weeds, or brush.
• Clean culverts, gutters, catch-basins, drains, or ditches.
• Load and unload vehicles and move/set up furniture.
• Spread sand, gravel, loam, or asphalt as needed.
• Dig ditches or post-holes and set or pull posts.
• Repair guardrails or fences and patch concrete or asphalt surfaces.
• Maintain, erect, or repair signs and clean or mark roadways for parking lots.
• Erect or dismantle snow fences and paint fences, posts, guardrails, or building exteriors.
• Perform other related work as necessary.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and converse in English to understand product label instructions and discuss custodial matters with supervisors.
• No specific licenses or certifications required.
