Responsibilities

  • Perform specific cleaning tasks in all campus buildings, including dusting, washing walls, windows, and floors, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Cleans campus property such as offices, classrooms, corridors, and furniture by washing, waxing, buffing, and vacuuming.
  • Cleans areas systematically as prescribed by departmental procedures and standards.
  • Locate weaknesses in cleanliness and take corrective actions.
  • Cleans sidewalks and collects debris from around buildings.
  • Shovels snow from sidewalks, ramps, and entry areas.
  • Prepares work orders for repairs and deficiencies.
  • Assists in maintaining building security by locking and unlocking areas and reporting unusual situations.
  • Changes light bulbs and assists trades with light maintenance as needed.
  • Uses and maintains environmental services equipment and makes basic repairs as needed.
  • Reports to supervisors regarding activities completed and supplies needed.
  • Provides on-campus moving services for furniture and equipment.
  • Performs routine laboring tasks to assist skilled tradespeople.
  • Plants, seeds, transplants, and cares for trees, shrubbery, and flowers.
  • Operates mechanical or power-driven equipment and drives a truck.
  • Performs manual labor in a stockroom or warehouse.

Requirements

  • Three years of custodial experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions.
  • Ability to lift medium to heavy objects.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb and work on ladders and scaffolds.
  • Physical stamina and endurance are required.
  • Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude are necessary.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Experience in a diverse college setting is preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary of $1,592.69 Bi-weekly, Grade 10, Step 1.
  • Full-time position with a shift schedule of Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:30 pm.
