About the position

The Maintenance and Landscaping Assistant at Girl Scouts of Utah is a seasonal role focused on maintaining the camp's outdoor environment and supporting camp operations. This position involves landscaping, general maintenance, and assisting with kitchen duties, all while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for campers. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to the development of young girls through the Girl Scouts' mission.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscaping and yard maintenance.
• Manage the recycling program.
• Conduct general cleaning and restocking of paper products.
• Assist with property maintenance and repairs.
• Help set up and break down camp operations.
• Support kitchen duties including food delivery, stocking shelves, dishwashing, and meal preparation.
• Implement safety guidelines and standards as outlined by Girl Scouts of the USA and the American Camp Association.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a certified driver with a clear MVR background, at least 21 years of age, and provide proof of auto insurance and motor vehicle licensing.
• Pass a criminal background check, including sex-offender registries/driving records.
• Hold/obtain Red Cross First Aid & CPR Certifications or the equivalent.
• Hold/obtain a Utah Food Handlers' Permit.
• Complete Youth Protection Training within the first week of employment.
• Ability to communicate and work with groups of campers ages 6-17.
• Ability to follow direction from Team Leaders and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Ability to observe camper behavior and enforce safety regulations.
• Strong commitment to the mission and values of Girl Scouts of Utah.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in landscaping or maintenance work.
• Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting.
