About the position

Sellwood Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the successful physical operations of our community by performing various repairs and maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for plumbing, painting, light electrical work, and light HVAC maintenance, all aimed at promoting a high sense of well-being and aesthetic appeal for our residents, families, and staff. The position requires a proactive approach to completing work orders and assisting with move-in and move-out details, ensuring that rooms are prepared and repaired for resident use. In addition to maintenance tasks, the Maintenance Assistant will also be responsible for repairing plumbing fixtures, electrical apparatus, and appliances, as well as maintaining cleanliness and sanitary conditions in common areas. The role includes performing door removal and installation, repairing door locks, and making necessary adjustments. The Maintenance Assistant will also engage with residents by driving them to appointments and outings, which adds a personal touch to the role. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for those who have completed a two-year technical school program. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar position is preferred, along with a valid Driver's License and First Aid Certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic math skills, are essential for success in this role. The work schedule is primarily Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of a PM shift from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Director and is crucial for maintaining the quality of life for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of work orders.
  • Assist with move-in/out details.

  • Perform wall texturing, painting, wall repairs, and wallpapering.
  • Drive residents to appointments and outings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Degree or certificate from a two-year technical school program preferred.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
  • Valid First Aid Certification may be required.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math solving skills.
