About the position

The Maintenance Assistant at MorningStar Senior Living is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the building and its equipment, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents. This role emphasizes a culture of care and servant-leadership, focusing on providing essential maintenance services as requested by staff and residents while adhering to federal and state regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance and repairs for the building and equipment as requested by staff and residents.
  • Replace float units in community toilets and washers, unclog drains, and clean sink traps.
  • Replace and clean air filters in HVAC units, washers, dryers, and exhaust fans.
  • Repair windows, screens, shades, blinds, and curtain rods.
  • Repair doors, hinges, handles, and locks.
  • Repair stoves, ovens, washers, dryers, and other appliances.
  • Replace light bulbs, fuses, circuit breakers, and electrical outlets.
  • Repair beds, wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids.
  • Paint walls, ceilings, and furniture as needed.
  • Build and construct shelves, tables, and other furniture.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop and tool room.
  • Complete routine maintenance inspections throughout the building.
  • Submit accident/incident reports and maintain safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One year of maintenance-related experience preferred.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment for repairs and construction.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and safety requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a senior living or healthcare environment.
  • Certifications in maintenance or related fields.
