About the position

The Maintenance Assistant at Ciena Healthcare is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing various maintenance duties in accordance with facility policies to enhance resident comfort and quality of life. The position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various maintenance duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate competence in mechanical and technical concepts for facility repair and maintenance projects.
  • Interact with facility staff and residents to answer questions and resolve grievances promptly.
  • Apply building and safety codes to facility situations and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance throughout the physical plant and for all equipment.
  • Maintain and test the emergency power system to ensure availability of power.
  • Ensure all essential equipment is in safe operating condition, including boiler room equipment and kitchen appliances.
  • Respond to facility needs 24/7 and handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of physical plant and equipment experience in an institutional environment.
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, general carpentry, and drywall repair.
  • Vocational training in skilled trade or other relevant training preferred.
