About the position

The Maintenance Assistant at Elevate Care Niles is responsible for maintaining the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role is essential in ensuring a successful maintenance program is upheld, contributing to the overall quality of care provided in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The position requires a dedicated and dependable individual who can perform various maintenance tasks and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in established maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
  • Keep work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Refer to material safety data sheets when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Paint and drywall experience is a must.
  • No experience required, but some preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
  • Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
