About the position
The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance team by ensuring the physical condition of the property is well-maintained. This position involves performing various maintenance tasks, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining professional relationships with staff and residents. The role requires on-call availability and the completion of service requests in a timely manner, along with adherence to safety and operational policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist the maintenance team with all on-site functions.
- Complete all service requests on a timely basis and ensure notices are posted.
- Perform common maintenance on gates, light fixtures, doors, windows, laundry facilities, pool and pool pump, and appliances.
- Notify Senior Technicians of any supplies or parts necessary to complete the service requests.
- Perform cleaning duties as needed, including mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
- Paint interior and exterior areas according to industry standards for preparation.
- Maintain a professional relationship with staff, vendors, and current or prospective residents.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain all storage and maintenance shops neatly and safely.
- Safeguard all company tools and equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal laws governing tenant/landlord relations.
Requirements
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in property maintenance capacity performing maintenance duties.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Skills in carpentry, roofing, and other general construction-related items.
- Possess a technical service-oriented background.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
- Reliable transportation and own tools.
Nice-to-haves
- HVAC certification and pool certification to progress from Assistant to Lead Technician.
