About The Position
The Maintenance Assistant at MyPath plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of facilities that provide specialized services and dignified care for individuals with disabilities. This position involves responding to maintenance work requests as assigned by the Facilities Manager, which includes a variety of tasks such as repairs, furniture moves, delivering supplies, painting, and performing minor plumbing and electrical repairs. The Maintenance Assistant is also responsible for cleaning buildings and equipment, conducting routine and preventative maintenance, and assisting in the general upkeep of the grounds. In addition to these responsibilities, the Maintenance Assistant will perform necessary carpentry work, woodworking, and refinishing furniture. They will assist in maintaining the operation of HVAC units, wall heaters, boilers, and water systems, and will consult with the Facilities Manager or Facilities Director regarding maintenance concerns and potential solutions. The role requires maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery used by the Maintenance Department and other departments, as well as assisting with special maintenance projects for the Agency. The Maintenance Assistant must maintain on-call status for emergencies as directed by the Facilities Manager and conduct themselves in a positive, respectful, and collaborative manner, in line with MyPath's beliefs and behaviors. Effective communication, both verbal and written, with internal and external staff and vendors is essential, as is maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company policies and procedures. The position also involves staying updated on current trends in services and attending training as needed, sharing new information with the department.
